Firefox 26 for Mac OS X. Firefox Web Browser. Word for mac 2016 page break wont continue numbering. Firefox 26.0.dmg (45.50 MB). Comments (0). Post a new comment. The latest version of Firefox, Firefox 26, is now officially available to download. This is one of the most significant releases in recent history, introducing built-in “click to play” functionality for all plug-ins (except for Flash). Firefox 26 also represents the dramatic culmination of Mozilla’s MemShrink project, which has spent the last two and a half years trying to battle Firefox’s reputation for being a memory hog. Firefox 26 has a very svelte memory footprint indeed. Updated @ 13:55: Mozilla has decided that only Java will be affected by click-to-play for now, with other plug-ins (Silverlight, Adobe Reader, etc.) going through an additional round of beta testing before they’re blocked by click to play. Furthermore, it sounds like Mozilla is going to add some sites and plug-ins to a whitelist — so it might not be only Flash that is allowed by default. The original story continues below. In Firefox 26, all plug-ins except for Flash will generate a prompt, asking the user to block the plug-in or allow it to run. Furthermore, out-of-date versions of Silverlight, Java, and Adobe Reader will be blocked entirely, forcing the user to update before the plug-ins are allowed to run. Flash is the exception because, according to Mozilla, “Flash content is so common on the Web, and many websites use ‘hidden’ Flash instances that the user does not see and cannot click on.” These hidden instances are usually Flash-based cookies — given Mozilla’s history as a proponent of privacy and security, this behavior is a bit odd, but oh well. Firefox 26, click to play. Note the gray bar asking if you want to allow Java to run or not. Chrome has had this feature for a while, but it’s turned off by default. This is definitely quite a bold move for Mozilla, as previous research has shown that click-to-play can confuse and annoy people (the average web surfer doesn’t know or care that a website uses Silverlight). Image capture for mac 10.9. The current implementation of click-to-play in Firefox gives plug-ins permanent permission for a given domain — you don’t have to approve each plug-in every time you load a page. Mozilla hopes this implementation will be invasive enough to improve browser performance and stability, while not being too annoying to the user. If you want more granular control of plug-ins, or you want to make Flash click-to-play, you’ll need an add-on like. Other changes in Firefox 26 include Linux support for H.264, support for MP3 decoding in Windows XP, and using EXIF data to automatically orient standalone images. Ondesoft Screen Capture for Mac is an all-in-one screenshot capture and editor utility which helps you capture any screenshot on your Mac. Jul 24, 2018 - iPhone settings -> Photos -> Transfer to Mac or PC -> Switch from. There's also a 'Keep Originals' option in the OSX Image Capture app, I'm. To add to that, yes there are viruses on macs, buuuuuut. Compare the number of people who get viruses on their mac to the number of people who get viruses on their Windows (everyone almost). And yes the reason that there aren’t viruses on it is because of the smaller amount of people using MAC computers but isn’t that just another reason to buy one???? It doesn’t matter why they don’t get viruses it just matters that they don’t pretty much get some at all. No one I have seen who has a mac for 10+ years has ever had a virus •. Actually, the reason that there are less viruses on Mac is because the Mac OS is much more complicated to program and has much more complex security measures than Windows. Windows is and always has been easy to hack, so you get more devious nutballs deciding they want to ruin the world with their virus – and with rudimentary programming knowledge, they can do exactly that. I’ve used both Mac and PC since 1990 (and still own and use both mainly because my wife refuses to give up her PC.) I spend all my time repairing and re-tweaking the PC just so it will function normally for basic functions, whereas I use my Mac to do real work – simply because it works every time. Have I had a few issues? Truth be told, since 1990, I’ve had only one Mac issue that I couldn’t fix myself. And it was an issue that I caused myself (actually I worked pretty hard to make it happen just curiosity out of control, really.) Why large corporations still base their operations on the sloppy, bug-ridden, virus-prone Windows system is beyond my comprehension. It’s like leaving your Jaguar parked with the doors open and the keys in the ignition while you pop into the ghetto liquor store for a chocolate Yoo-Hoo and a pack of twinkies. You’re just asking for trouble. Argue with me all you want, PC lovers. I have used both Mac and PC with an open mind and have tried my best to love Windows in all its bargain-basement quirkiness – but a dog can only get beaten with a newspaper so many times before he runs away. And Windows has beaten me with a newspaper long enough. I’m running home to Mac. LOL, you don’t know what you’re doing then. Hopefully 3 years has changed that. Again, why do astronomers and NASA use PC if MAC is so grand? Rhetorical so don’t bother. I have not been infected or lost data on a PC in over a decade. I know it happens but, if thats Mac’s only claim, to fame over PC, it’s pretty pathetic. I run my business and my backyard observatory solely on pc and have for a long time (15 years now), trouble-free. Most of the guys in my astronomy/ astrophotography groups who have Mac end up getting PC specifically because they can’t get the hardware or app’s that they need to run their mounts and their astro gear on a Mac. Not to mention being in business and managing everything from payroll, Excel, Quickbooks, estimates, invoicing, spreadsheets and everything all in one place. PC wins, hands down! This Mac vs PC crap is a joke. Mac is a johnny-come-lately and has not been able to keep up. They have a fast graphics engine and quick boot time. Technically, you’re wrong. “Virus” isn’t a catchall term for malware. There are viruses, worms, backdoors and Trojans. Core Improve: allow upload pieces containing file boundary when part of files in torrent selected for download Core Bugfix: data not saved into piece_part file correctly in a few particular situations when part of files in torrent selected for download v1.51 2018.6.12. About BitTorrent for Mac The BitTorrent client enables a user to search for files in the.Torrent (pronounced 'dot torrent') format and download them. The current client enables a host of features including multiple parallel downloads. The client also intermediates peering between itself, source file servers ('trackers') and other clients, thereby yielding great distribution efficiencies. The client also enables users to create and share torrent files. BitTorrent is property of BitTorrent, Inc.. Downloading through the browser is often slow and unreliable for files larger than 1GB. The download could timeout, and we would end up with a corrupt file. Using BitComet, we can have faster download speeds for HTTP/FTP, pause and resume functionality, and download BitTorrent files. Unblock any international website, browse anonymously, and download movies and Mp3 with complete safety with CyberGhost,: There are many download accelerators on the Internet. There are also many torrent clients. BitComet is one of the relatively few apps that support both the BitTorrent protocol and faster download on our browser. With the integration checked, the app will install an extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Through this extension, BitComet will manage every HTTP and FTP download instead of the browser, for faster download across the board. Of course, we might not care for another extension weighing down our browser. The integration is optional, and we can use BitComet just as well without it. In that case, we should uncheck the boxes before clicking 'Next'. After the main installation, we need to pay attention. BitComet will suggest to change our browsers' homepage and install some crapware. It's the usual 'price' for many free programs. We just close this window. The installer will warn us against canceling the installation. But the main program has already finished installing. Choosing 'Yes' won't undo the main installation. Faster download with browser integration If we chose the browser integration with Chrome, we need to enable the extension next time we open the browser. The same goes for Firefox. We check the 'Allow this installation' and press 'Continue'. We must restart the browser for the add-on to activate. Now, when clicking on a file link, the download will start with BitComet. We can choose to download the file here and now. Or we can just add it paused to BitComet, for a later download. Mind you that this method won't work for downloads that start automatically with a few seconds delay. These type of downloads will automatically start at the browser. In such cases, we can cancel the browser download and click on the 'Download now' link for BitComet to engage. To bypass BitComet altogether, for any link, we just right-click and select 'Save link as.' Faster download manually If we don't usually download large files through the browser, we don't need the browser integration. When we need to grab a large file, we can copy and paste the download link to BitComet. We just need to right-click the download link, select 'Copy link address'.and then launch BitComet and click on the 'HTTP' icon and paste the URL. If BitComet was already running, copying the address will immediately add the file. BitComet is constantly scanning the Windows clipboard for download links, regardless of the browser integration. Of course, for this method to work we need to copy a link to an actual file. Some links use JavaScript for the download, and those won't download with copy-paste. During the download, we can select the file and choose the 'Summary' tab. Here we will find full details about the connections, the speed, the time elapsed and the time remaining. The results with BitComet were impressive. At 1851kB/s, the average download speed was definitely at the upper limit of our 18Mbps connection's capabilities. Naturally, having a faster download depends on the server's capabilities too. If the server is slow or overloaded, no download accelerator can do much about the speed. OS X supports the option to read NTFS-formatted drives, but has not supported writing to these drives. Therefore, the use of a third-party driver such as Paragon NTFS or Tuxera NTFS has been required for those seeking full NTFS support; however, OS X does support writing to NTFS, but this feature is just not enabled by default. To enable this feature, you have to do so on a per-volume basis, by editing the system's hidden fstab file to adjust the way the drive is automatically handled when attached and mounted. NTFS (short of new technology file system) is a default file system for Windows. It was first introduced in Windows NT and over the years it We will come to that later, If you want to enable the support for NTFS, you can easily do it by editing a small file. Simply insert your hard drive, in your. First ensure that your NTFS drive has a simple single-word name, and then go to the Applications > Utilities folder and launch the Terminal program. In here, run the following command to edit the fstab file (supply your password when prompted): Enter this line into the fstab file, changing the label 'NAME' to match that of your drive. Screenshot by Topher Kessler/CNET sudo nano /etc/fstab. The Terminal should now show an editor window for the fstab file, in which you can enter the following all on one line. Be sure to change the word NAME to the name of your drive (it is case-sensitive): LABEL=NAME none ntfs rw,auto, nobrowse When finished, press Control-O to save the file, followed by Control-X to exit, and then unmount your NTFS drive and attach it again. When you do so, the system will no longer immediately show it in the Finder, but you can go back to the Terminal and run the following command to reveal it in the hidden Volumes directory where the system mounts all attached drives: open /Volumes In the folder that opens, you should see the mounted NTFS volume, and should now be able to copy files to it, or otherwise manage files on it. If you need to access this volume more frequently, you can drag it to the sidebar, or make an alias of it in the location of your choice. You can also view the Volumes directory in Column mode to reveal it as a parent directory, from which you can create an alias instead of doing so on a per-drive basis. Keep in mind that the writing ability of Apple's NTFS driver has not been thoroughly tested, and though this will enable write support using Apple's driver, there may be some limitations or unknown behaviors with the driver, so use it with caution. If you are dealing with important data, or need to access numerous different NTFS volumes, then third-party drivers may still be the best (if not most convenient) choice. Post them below! 'What our software does is basically allow anyone to scan multipage documents, index them using a real database that you can design to fit your needs, and retrieve them very quickly,' says Craig Landrum, chief technology officer. 'This could be useful for capturing patient records.' Blueridge's single-user system is available for free and can be downloaded from their Web site. It includes six generic indexing screens, but a Screen Generator program allows end users to build their own for special purposes. If you need multiple scanning stations or have a large number of documents, you can step up to a full Unix or NT-based server system. Hello Diane - I have encountered a problem at my workplace with the migration of Outlook to a different server by our outside IT organization. Before, in the Business Card view, one was able to see all relevant default fields, including a multiple line address. Now, the address field in the Business Card view is truncated and whether two or three lines, all show up as one single line. Need to change this globally, if possible, back to the way it was. Our IT company cannot figure this out. By the way, when you open any individual contact card, the address displays correctly, and it you click on Business Card within the open contact and double click the address field, the situation corrects itself, but if you don't do this, then all parts of the address meld together in one line when looking at the Business Card view prior to opening contact. Oct 12, 2016 - Ever wish you could use tabs in your favorite apps? Most of the default Mac applications you'd expect to work–including Maps, Dictionary,. Some say the appearance of Microsoft products built for Mac OS X signals the end times, but those of us that are dedicated Mac users for both home and business know this isn’t necessarily the case. Microsoft Office has been available for OS X since 2008, and the newest iteration, released in 2011, is a fairly polished software suite. We’re starting a series on tips and tricks in Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 with one of the most widely used members of the software suite: Word. Below are some hidden gems found throughout the software, maybe including a few that you didn’t know existed. Ready to dive in? Here are the top hidden tips and tricks for Microsoft Word for Mac 2011. Hide the Ribbon Let’s start with an easy one. While the Ribbon is all nice and fine, sometimes you’re working on a smaller screen and need every pixel of space for seeing what you’re typing. Or maybe you’ve become so skilled with keyboard shortcuts that you just don’t need the Ribbon any more. Whatever the reason, you can hide the Ribbon with a single click. To the far right of the Ribbon tabs you should see a caret symbol (^) next to a gear icon. Click the caret and the Ribbon will disappear. You’ll see the caret is now pointing the other way, like a down arrow. To get the Ribbon back, just click the caret again. Customize the Ribbon If you’d rather just change the Ribbon so it fits your needs a little better, you’re in luck because Word lets you customize it pretty easily. First, you can edit the order of the Ribbon tabs. Just click the gear icon next to the ^ you clicked in the first tip, and choose Customize Ribbon Tab Order. Now you can hide Ribbon tabs you don’t want, and move the ones you do want into an order that better suits your way of working. Then click Done. If you’ve gone too far and need to start with fresh Ribbon tabs, click Reset. If you want to change the contents of each Ribbon tab, you can click the gear icon and this time choose Ribbon Preferences. Here you can choose what tabs you want to show and even change the color of the Ribbon’s theme. Nothing groundbreaking here, but enough to get the Ribbon working how you want. Define Words on the Fly Instead of heading over to to define a word you’ve typed, why not just do it from inside Word for Mac itself? Highlight the word in question and hit Shift + F7. You should see the Reference Tools window appear. (If your keys are set to be functions instead of standard F keys, hold down the fn key in this process as well. So it becomes Shift + fn + F7.) Here you can get the word’s definition, see thesaurus entries, and even get a translation, all without leaving your document. Selections the Easy Way There are a lot of reasons to select text that you’ve already typed. Maybe you want to copy and paste it, or maybe you need to bold, highlight, or set a few words as a hyperlink. First, you can double-click a word. This will highlight the word for you, but you probably already knew that, just like you probably know that if you triple-click you’ll select the entire paragraph. Duplicate contacts killing your productivity? See how Scrubly can help in this. The hidden trick here is that if you hold down the Command button and click once, you’ll instantly select the entire sentence. If you only want to select a series of words one at a time, hold Option + Shift and hit the left or right arrow keys to jump word by word, selecting as you go. Pretty cool, right? Taming AutoCorrect If you do a Google search for “AutoCorrect,” the first suggestion you get is “AutoCorrect fail,” and rightfully so. More often than not, your computer thinks it knows what you mean when you misspell a word, and since it won’t show up in a Spelling & Grammar check, you’ll never know until you mean to type “castle” and instead “casket” shows up. To fix this, you can actually edit the AutoCorrect list for Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 pretty easily. First, if you always misspell a word, right-click on it, select AutoCorrect from the context menu, and choose the word you want to automatically replace that misspelling. Next, you can use AutoCorrect to help you type out long words with only a few characters. Click Tools > AutoCorrect from the Word 2011 menu bar. In the “Replace” column put the short word or phrase you want to type, and then in the “With” column type out the full word or phrase you want to be shown. Then click Add. Now when you type that short phrase, the long one will automatically pop up. Non-breaking Spaces Keep Phrases Together When you’re typing the name of a person or business, or a phrase that should stay together to look right, you can easily insert what’s called a non-breaking space to make sure Word 2011 keeps the words on both sides of the space on the same line no matter what. All you have to do is hold the Option key when you hit the spacebar and you’ll instantly have a non-breaking space. You won’t see any difference in the space, but Word will know and will make the changes for you automatically. Synonyms Are a (Right) Click Away If you’re like most of us, there are probably times when you’ve used the same word one too many times and you just can’t think of a replacement for it to keep from using the word again. You could use to search for the Thesaurus, but instead of that you can stay inside Word for Mac 2011 by using one of two options. 2K Shares An easy, homemade creamy, mac and cheese made on the stovetop, a simple mac and cheese recipe without flour, and no roux required! To be honest, I didn’t even know that macaroni and cheese even was supposed to be made with a roux until a few years ago. Yeah, it makes sense looking back, but when I was growing up it was never made that way. The Best Stovetop Mac And Cheese No Milk Recipes on Yummly| Stovetop Macaroni And Cheese, 4 Ingredient Stovetop Macaroni And Cheese, Stovetop. There was a very simple process that my mom used: boil your pasta, strain your pasta, stir in milk, butter, and cheese (American cheese, only), and voila, you’re done! No flour whisking required. As far as I’m aware, there never was a real “recipe”, just a brief eyeballing of ingredients as they went into the pot. But, when I decided on a whim make Macaroni & Cheese the other day and was in a hurry trying to cook three other things at the same time and not burn any of them, I didn’t want to just eyeball things, I wanted it to come out tasting right and I just wanted to follow a really simple recipe. Every single recipe that came up in Google used flour. I had no time for flour or for a roux. So I did what my Mom did and I eyeballed things. It came out great. And the next day I decided to make an actual easy stovetop mac and cheese recipe to share. One that didn’t require whisking flour into milk for a roux (don’t get me wrong, I appreciate a with a nice simple roux, but not when I’m in a hurry for some quick and easy mac & cheese). I tweaked this recipe many times (seriously, I still have several pounds of edible reject batches in my fridge — batches that didn’t quite make the cut) and finally settled on a nice, simple recipe that I think you’ll like. I do use American cheese here. If you’d prefer, you can use just cheddar (I included notes in the recipe), but I love the creaminess that the American cheese offers. Plus it felt like an appropriate nod to the macaroni and cheese of my childhood. I also added a few extra spices — a dash of ground mustard and a sprinkle of smoked paprika, but these are totally optional. Feel free to add any extras into the pasta that you see fit (bacon comes to mind). And there you have it, the simplest, best macaroni and cheese recipe.
